Boise State fell behind by 25 points at halftime against Texas State before winning 46-45 on Saturday night in Boise, Idaho. The No. 20 ranked Broncos overcame the largest deficit they have faced this season to secure a victory over the Bobcats.

Texas State (4-4, 2-2 Pac-12) scored the first 36 points of the second half. The Bobcats took a 39-28 lead with 8 minutes and 58 seconds remaining in the game. Jayden Bradley returned an interception from Boise State quarterback Maddux Madsen for a touchdown to extend that lead.

Boise State coach Spencer Danielson described the third quarter as one of the worst quarters of football he has ever experienced. He noted that the team remained competitive despite trailing by 11 points and playing without its starting quarterback in the final period.

Madsen, who had thrown for 236 yards and one touchdown while also rushing for two scores, left the game in the fourth quarter after taking a hard hit near his left knee. He remained on the sideline on crutches for the rest of the contest. Danielson said the team's training staff was still evaluating the starter's status.

Max Cutforth replaced Madsen and threw three touchdown passes in the final seven minutes. He connected with Akeem Wright on an 18-yard scoring play with 2 minutes and 40 seconds left to give Boise State the lead. Earlier, Mana Tuioti intercepted a trick play pass and returned it 11 yards to shift momentum before the final score.

Texas State quarterback Brad Jackson threw for 327 yards and four touchdowns. The Bobcats have now lost 13 consecutive attempts to beat a ranked team since moving to the Football Bowl Subdivision in 2012. Boise State improves to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in Pac-12 play.

Both teams return to action on Saturday. Texas State will travel to Oregon State, while Boise State goes to Colorado State.
