Actress Selma Blair posted a video on Friday to address the events leading to her arrest on Oct. 11, saying she is sorry for frightening those around her.
In the Instagram post, Blair stated that she has never intended to hurt or frighten anyone in her life. She apologized specifically to the people she disappointed, hurt, or alarmed. She explained that her lawyers advised her to remain silent until her legal case progresses. She thanked fans for their support and said she will focus on her health and her son.
The incident occurred on Delta Flight 938 from Los Angeles to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. Port Authority Police responded to a report of a physically abusive passenger after the plane arrived at the gate. Two flight attendants reported injuries. One attendant was taken to a hospital for evaluation. TMZ reported that Blair punched one attendant and bit another. Dispatch audio mentioned a bloody nose and bite marks.
A representative for Blair told TMZ that the actress experienced a medical emergency during the flight. The representative said she received medical attention after landing and was in stable condition.
Blair appeared in Queens Criminal Court on Oct. 12. Charging documents allege she assaulted a police officer and a nurse after being taken into custody. The documents say she kicked an officer in the face, neck, and chest while on a stretcher. She is also accused of kicking a nurse in the chest at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. A judge set her bail at $20,000 cash or a $60,000 bond.
Blair faces two counts of second-degree assault. She is scheduled to return to court in January.
