Kansas City residents face a 60 percent chance of scattered showers on Saturday, prompting the local forecast team to issue a First Warn for potential disruptions to Halloween festivities. While the precipitation is expected to be light and intermittent rather than a continuous downpour, the timing poses a challenge for families planning outdoor activities.

The rain risk is concentrated in the morning and evening hours on Saturday. The afternoon is projected to offer a dry stretch, providing a window for trick-or-treating if the weather cooperates. Temperatures will remain comfortable, staying in the 60s throughout the day. Forecasters note that most residents will not need to cancel plans, though some may need to adjust the timing of their outings.

This weekend follows a pattern of fluctuating precipitation. Thursday began with isolated showers and a low 60s start, clearing to a high of 72 in the afternoon. A 30 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms returned Thursday evening. Friday started cloudy with a 40 percent chance of scattered storms in the morning, drying out by mid-day before another round of precipitation arrived in the evening and night. Friday temperatures ranged from the upper 50s to the low 70s.

The weekend concludes on Sunday with a 20 percent chance of morning rain. Conditions will turn partly cloudy, with highs reaching 70 degrees. Daylight hours shorten on Sunday, with sunrise at 6:46 a.m. and sunset at 5:17 p.m.

A more intense weather system arrives Monday, bringing a First Warn for a 70 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms. Forecasters are monitoring the system for the potential of a few strong storms. The rain risk diminishes to 40 percent on Tuesday and 30 percent on Wednesday.

Temperatures will drop sharply following the Monday storms. Highs will start in the upper 60s on Monday and fall to the upper 50s by Wednesday. Breezy and cloudy conditions are expected to persist through the end of the week. Parents considering outdoor Halloween plans may find ponchos or backup schedules necessary if the morning showers persist.
