David Langston, 41, died after a car traveling in the wrong direction struck his motorcycle on US-70 in Goldsboro. The collision occurred near North William Street, leaving the mechanic behind a 10-year-old son named Dylan.

Goldsboro police identified the driver as Edward Stewart, 83, a local resident. Stewart has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, reckless driving, and driving the wrong way on a dual-lane highway. He is scheduled to appear in court in December.

Langston’s mother, Peggy Craft, described her son as a dedicated provider who prioritized his family. Craft stated that Langston worked as a mechanic in Goldsboro and was known for his generosity. She recalled that he would always give assistance to those in need, often spending his free time with Dylan.

“The first thing is he loved his son with all his heart, and he spent all the time he could with his son,” Craft said. She emphasized that her grandson has a strong support system in place following the accident.

A GoFundMe page has been established to help support Langston’s son. Craft said her current focus is ensuring Dylan understands who his father was and the extent of the community’s love for him. The online fund will assist with ongoing expenses for the child.
