Allison Jeanne Albro was booked into the Volusia County Jail early Friday morning following an alleged online threat against President Donald Trump.
The 21-year-old woman was arrested after a post made Thursday night indicated she planned to attend the president's upcoming rally in Daytona Beach and shoot him with a Glock handgun. Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood announced the investigation on social media, stating that the county’s Domestic Security Unit and the U.S. Secret Service reviewed the post.
Jail records show Albro was processed at 1:01 a.m. Friday. She faces two charges: written threats to kill or do bodily harm, and using a two-way communication device to commit a felony. No bond was set for either charge at the time of booking, and she remained in custody as of Friday afternoon.
Sheriff Chitwood shared a screenshot of the alleged post, which included a photograph of Albro alongside a message detailing her intent to use a firearm. Investigators later contacted Albro, who claimed the post was a joke and stated she did not possess a Glock or any other weapon.
“She said she was joking with this post, she doesn’t have access to a Glock or any other weapon, and she would never hurt anyone,” Chitwood wrote. He added that the department would not tolerate such threats, noting that Albro is learning the lesson the hard way.
Chitwood warned other users to think twice before posting similar statements, even if they intend them as humor. He confirmed that the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is coordinating with the Secret Service, the FBI, and other law enforcement partners to ensure the safety of the presidential visit to Daytona Beach.
The sheriff emphasized that the local agency continues to work closely with federal counterparts to secure the event for attendees and the broader community.
