A 15-year-old student at Mainland High School in Daytona Beach was arrested on Friday after typing a threat involving the president into her school-issued laptop. The incident occurred on October 30, the same day President Donald Trump was scheduled to hold a midterm election rally in the city.

According to the Daytona Beach Police Department arrest report, school officials received an alert after the student allegedly typed "how to kill the president" and "im just kidding" in her OneDrive school account. The alert was distributed to faculty, staff, and law enforcement agencies. The student, who is not named in the report due to her age, was identified by the police as the subject of the incident.

The school resource officer attempted to handcuff the student in the office. The report states she resisted by kicking and swinging her arms. The officer then placed her in a bear hug and redirected her to the floor, where she lay on her arms. During this process, the officer's Taser broke off its holder. A school guardian assisted in detaining the student.

The student's guardian confirmed to officials that she did not have access to any weapons. The remainder of the arrest report has been redacted. President Trump was listed as the victim in the police documentation.

The student was charged with three offenses. These include intimidation for making a written threat to kill or cause bodily harm, obstructing police by depriving them of means of protection or communication, and resisting an officer without violence.

The arrest followed a separate incident earlier Friday morning involving a 21-year-old woman in Volusia County. That woman, identified as Albro, was arrested after a social media post threatened to shoot the president. She captioned a selfie-style photo with text stating she was going to a Trump rally to shoot him with her Glock. The U.S. Secret Service flagged the post and contacted the Volusia County Sheriff's Office Domestic Security Unit.

Albro told deputies the post was obviously a joke and that she did not own a Glock or like guns. She admitted she did not like the president. Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood advised others to think twice before posting similar jokes, noting the department works with federal partners to ensure safety for the presidential visit.
