President Donald Trump will hold campaign rallies in both Kansas and Iowa on Sunday, reversing a decision made earlier in the week to cancel those events. A person familiar with the scheduling changes told the Wake County Herald on Friday that the Republican president originally planned to visit Salina, Kansas, on Saturday and Dubuque, Iowa, on Sunday. That itinerary changed when the Republican National Committee announced a shift toward a "72-hour sprint" of phone rallies intended to reach a larger national audience. The RNC stated the change allowed Trump to conduct telerallies instead of in-person events. Now, the in-person stops are returning, but both are scheduled for the same day.

The two states host competitive Senate races that will influence whether the GOP retains its majority in the upper chamber. Trump has already visited Kansas this month to support Sen. Roger Marshall, a Republican. He also traveled to Iowa to boost Ashley Hinson, the Republican Senate candidate who currently serves in the House. These previous stops were part of 25 rallies the president has headlined during October. The new Sunday schedule requires him to travel between the two states in a single day.

The RNC initially cited the need to maximize voter contact through telerallies when it first canceled the weekend trips. The person familiar with the latest plans indicated that the in-person rallies were rearranged specifically to fit around the newly added phone events. This adjustment means Trump will appear in two distinct Midwestern markets within hours of each other. The consolidation reflects a strategic attempt to balance direct local engagement with a wider digital outreach effort during the final stretch of the midterm cycle.

No additional dates have been announced for further in-person events in these states. The president’s schedule remains fluid, with the most recent updates confirmed only by sources close to the campaign. The decision to combine the stops places both the Kansas and Iowa Senate candidates under the spotlight for a single, high-visibility day of campaigning.
