Gulfport Police Department officers made four arrests and handled 152 calls for service between Oct. 22 and Oct. 28, according to the weekly activity report released Wednesday.

The department’s Patrol Division recorded 119 dispatched calls and 339 self-initiated calls during that period. Officers generated 32 incident and offense reports, conducted 59 traffic and vessel stops, and issued 28 parking violations.

One of the week’s most critical responses involved an unconscious man found near a bush. Officers initiated CPR and other lifesaving measures but were unsuccessful. The man was transported to a hospital and pronounced deceased. Suspected narcotics were located in his backpack.

Arrests this week included a man charged with burglary with a battery, resisting an officer without violence, and battery on a law enforcement officer. The incident began in a bar where the man attempted to fight a patron. He entered a vehicle uninvited, scratched the owner’s face, and kicked an officer during his arrest. The officer sustained no injuries.

Another arrest involved a man charged with exposure of sexual organs. Officers responded to a complaint of a man yelling at neighbors and exposing himself. The suspect allegedly walked onto a neighbor’s property, lowered his shorts, and engaged in lewd behavior. One neighbor recorded the incident. The suspect was transported for a mental health evaluation.

A resident reported that his mother slapped him in the face while he was living with her. Another adult in the residence witnessed the event. The mother was arrested and charged with domestic-related battery.

Property crimes included a lawn care business owner reporting his bicycle, trailer, and equipment were stolen from a client’s front yard while he worked in the backyard. Officers located the property that evening with a person camping at a nearby convenience store. The victim and his mother declined to pursue criminal charges.

A business employee reported a stainless-steel steam table, three steam pans, and a dolly were stolen from an outdoor storage area overnight. The total value was estimated at over $1,100. In another case, a truck left at a paint shop for about a year was ransacked, though the exact timeframe of the break-in is unknown.

The Marine Unit patrolled to distribute flyers on long-term anchoring regulations. Many boaters indicated they already had the required permits. The unit forwarded two derelict vessel cases to the county for removal and is planning a joint enforcement operation with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

A cemetery caretaker reported possible vandalism to several gravesites. Officers determined a hired vehicle became stuck on the property and accidentally damaged the sites during its removal. The caretaker obtained the vehicle’s identifying information.
